This is a significant 76% decrease from its peak valuation of nearly $10 billion. The sharp decline in valuation highlights the substantial challenges that the travel tech platform has faced in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-overview-of-funding-round\"><strong>Overview of Funding Round<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The recent investment by InCred Wealth and Investment represents OYO&#8217;s first major funding in almost three years. Oyo will issue 14.37 crore Series G CCPS at an issue price of \u20b929 each to raise the fund\u2019s amount raising Rs 416.85 crore ($50 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the regulatory filing from the Registrar of Companies (RoC), the latest investment gives <a href=\"https:\/\/indianstartupnews.com\/funding\/oyo-raises-rs-215-crore-from-incred-at-76-percent-valuation-cut-know-the-current-valuation-4793859\">InCred a 2.11% stake<\/a> in OYO post-allotment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-ccps\"><br><strong>What Is CCPS?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/articles\/stocks\/05\/052705.asp\">CCPS<\/a> are compulsorily convertible preference shares. Unlike regular preference shares, which may or may not be converted into equity, CCPS offers investors a guaranteed conversion to equity, often at a predetermined conversion rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-expanding-global-footprint-and-profitability\"><br><strong>Expanding Global Footprint and Profitability<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gurugram-based travel tech giant is expected to use the funds for growth and global expansion, including acquisitions, and to enhance its business plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-oyo-is-expanding-globally\">Oyo is Expanding Globally<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The company recently announced the opening of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/companies\/start-ups\/oyo-opens-first-luxury-hotel-in-dubai-eyes-boosting-premium-properties-124062400658_1.html\">first luxury hotel in Dubai<\/a>, the Palette Royal Reflections Hotel and Spa. This is part of its efforts to enhance its premium property offerings worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization anticipates a significant increase in Indian tourists in 2024. This is due to Dubai&#8217;s recent relaxation of its visa policy for Indian travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-profitability\">Profitability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In FY24, OYO&#8217;s adjusted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business-standard.com\/companies\/news\/oyo-posts-maiden-profitable-year-with-rs-100-cr-pat-in-fy24-ritesh-agarwal-124053001044_1.html\">EBITDA surged to Rs 888 crore<\/a> ($107 million), a significant rise from Rs 274 crore ($33 million) in FY23.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OYO achieved profitability for the first time in a financial year, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/business.outlookindia.com\/corporate\/oyo-turned-profitable-in-fy24-with-rs-100-crore-net-earnings-founder\">profit-after-tax (PAT) of Rs 99.6 crore ($12 million) in 2023-24<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The company expanded its portfolio by adding approximately 5,000 hotels and 6,000 homes worldwide and saw its gross margins increase to Rs 2,508 crore ($302 million) from Rs 2,350 crore ($283 million) in FY23.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operating costs were also reduced, falling from 19% of GBV in FY23 to 14% of GBV in FY24.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-microsoft-s-investment-in-oyo\"><br><strong>Microsoft&#8217;s investment in OYO<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In August 2021,<a href=\"https:\/\/indianstartupnews.com\/news\/oyo-raising-strategic-investment-from-microsoft-at-9b-valuation-says-report\/\"> Microsoft invested $5 million<\/a> in OYO at a valuation of somewhere around $9.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, SoftBank Group Corp, a major investor in OYO, had marked down the company&#8217;s valuation to $2.7 billion. However, OYO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/business\/oyo-rejects-investor-softbanks-valuation-markdown-dubs-speculations-patently-incorrect-9215771.html\">rejected this assessment<\/a>, stating that the markdown was patently incorrect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-oyo-s-ipo-plans\"><br><strong>OYO\u2019s IPO Plans<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ritesh Agarwal, the founder of OYO, recently announced that the company has achieved its eighth consecutive quarter of positive EBITDA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these positive developments, OYO has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/news\/oyo-drhp-ipo-listing-refile-term-loan-general-atlantic-softbank-initial-public-offering-11716373291196.html\">withdrawn its IPO application<\/a> twice due to unfavorable market conditions. It plans to refile its draft prospectus reportedly after the completion of the refinancing of the $450 million loan, which is expected by the next quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report indicates that the start-up is in advanced discussions to raise Rs 1,000 crore (approximately $120 million) from family offices and wealthy individuals.
