“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” – C. S Lewis
What Lewis pointed is that, no matter what we possess in this world, the restlessness and thirst we suffer in our parched souls is an indication that there is more to what we perceive of ourselves.
Pope Benedict XVI in his first homily said “We are not some casual product of evolution. Each of us is a result of the thought of God, each of us is willed, each of us is necessary”.
Echoing from Ephesians 1:3, we discover that regardless of the circumstances that marked our birth, even if it be rape, we are willed into existence.
Our values however inherently good they are, are rooted in our intrinsic value as humans – made in the image and likeness of God. It is not just who we are but whose we are that changes everything.
